About

RapQuotes.net is a library of rap quotes: lyrics and interview lines, each one checked against its source and filed by artist and by theme.

Where it comes from

RapQuotes.net started as a blog in July 2010 and ran through 2013: posts of rap quotes, grouped by artist and by topic, with the comments that came with them.

In 2026 the site was relaunched. The old posts were restored from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine copies of the original site and keep their original URLs, so old links and bookmarks still land on the right post. Each restored post says it comes from the 2010–2013 archive and links to the archived copy.

What's here now

  • The quote library: verified lyrics and interview quotes, filed by artist and by theme.
  • The blog archive: the original 2010–2013 posts. Quotes in those posts are shown as first published and have not been re-checked; the checked versions are in the quote library.
  • Search: find a line by artist, theme or a few words from the quote.

How quotes get in

Quotes are never written from memory. Every lyric is matched against its song page on Genius and stored in Genius's exact wording; a line that doesn't match closely enough isn't published. The verifier also checks who performs that part of the song, so a guest's verse or chorus is not credited to the main artist. Interview and speech quotes must appear verbatim in the article or transcript they cite (allowing for punctuation and line-break differences), and that source is linked on the quote. Lines found only on quote farms, sites that give a line and a name but no source, are rejected. A line found only in a music publication's "best quotes" roundup is kept but marked Source rather than Verified. Quotes are also kept to a quotability bar: short, self-contained lines you could put in a bio or a caption.

The full method, what the badges on a quote mean, and how to report a mistake or ask for a removal are on How we verify quotes.
